Babies Shower!!!

I love this time of year and so grateful to be getting some sun! I don't know what happened 9 months ago, but it seems like EVERYONE is pregnant and I love it sooo much! Last night, I got to host a babies shower for my two cute friends, Jesse Lloyd and Erica Hart. Jesse is due any day now and looks amazing and Erica is due on 11/11/11.... crazy! How do you even plan that? Lindsay Martineau and Michelle Smoot were in attendance who are also both pregnant (and Lindsay is due on 11/11/11 too). Wow, I love it. Thanks to Whitley, who always saves my life and helped me host as well as Abbey for coming! Love these girls so much!

This is my beautiful sister, Sarah, with her darling prom date. As you can see, they both have red hair. However, she calls herself a "ginger" and claims it is a whole separate race! "Think about it", she says, "we have more freckles, we are pale, and can't tan!"

She does have a good point. However, "gingers" are beautiful and I LOVE her red hair!!

Discovery Gateway!

This past weekend, I got to take my sweet little nephew, Trey, to the Discovery Gateway. We went with my friend, Brandi and her 3 cute kids! Trey had a blast except he was terrified of the helicopter! Brandi's daughter, Tayvrie, helped take care of Trey the whole time and it was so cute to see her be a little mom to him.

After the museum, we went to McDonalds and got the meals that makes everyone happy
:-)..... It was a great day!!

Who doesn't love a new pair of shoes?! It was Jace's birthday last Saturday and we went to Dick's with our awesome friends, the Reese's, to get him a new pair of shoes. Well, needless to say, we both left with some new shoes-after his insistence :)- and we are OBSESSED!

Air-popped Popcorn!

Calling all popcorn lovers! I don't know if it's the holidays or what, but I have been loving different kinds of popcorn lately. There is nothing like warm, freshly made air-popped popcorn. It reminds me of my childhood when we used to pop and eat popcorn as we watched a movie every weekend. Who would've thought you could do so much with these tiny, little kernels?! So I decided to ditch the artificial microwave popcorn and switch to air-popped. I bought myself the Presto Poplite and have had a blast making different kinds of popcorn. My cute friend, Whitley was over when I opened it-love her!

PS-I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year; cheers to the year 2011!!

Holiday Movies!!

Tradition............tradition! Although this is the most well known song from the classic Fiddler on the Roof, I absolutely love traditions. One of the traditions that my family has always done is watch classic movies around Christmas time. The pictures above are some of the ones that I have watched so far. Even though I don't have a family of my own yet, I thoroughly enjoyed watching them by myself! I love cuddling up on my couch with a blanket, the Christmas tree on, and watching these classic and amazing movies. I have been watching bits of them every day and absolutely love it! The next ones on my list are White Christmas and It's a Wonderful Life. I love the holidays and the wonderful classic holiday movies!!

My Job

I have always known I wanted to be a nurse.

I've grown up helping take care of my family and love taking care of people. However, I don't think I realized how it can sometimes be not only physically hard, but mentally and emotionally taxing. I tend to get attached to my patients as I get to know them. Just like any job, there are good days and bad days. Working in women's services where I take care of postpartum and OB/GYN patients, it is usually a happy and exciting place. None the less, it can be one of the saddest places when a newborn doesn't survive. To watch a mother grieve the loss of a newborn baby can be so hard, but I have found that my understanding of the gospel and Christ's Atonement makes this process so much easier and I can feel at peace that one day, they will be reunited. I'm so grateful for the gospel in my life and for the knowledge that we can see our loved ones after this earthly life. I believe that there is a purpose for everything, including death.

CHUCK-A-RAMA

Is where we go for Thanksgiving every year. Oh yes, the buffet of all buffets. You better believe it-this is Thanksgiving for the Taylor family. No cooking, no messes to clean, and the picky eaters couldn't be happier (not to mention the best rolls and sweet potatoes ever)! We follow the Chuck with bowling across the street at Bountiful Bowl, then watch family home videos. We ended the night with seeing Harry Potter 7, which of course, I thoroughly enjoyed. Aunts Jane and Julie came with and we are missing Mary (in Hawaii) and Oliver and Patrick (on missions). I have so much to be grateful for and at the top of the list is my wonderful family. Yep a very Happy Thanksgiving this year!

Plays and Musicals!

I know it's been so long since I've posted anything- I should be banned from the blogging world! Hopefully I can figure this program out and be a better blogger! Jace and I are both working full-time and going to school full-time, so we've had a busy year. However, one thing that we have been lucky enough to do this year is see a lot of plays. I know this sounds geek-ish, but I love musicals! I grew up going to musicals as a family tradition and now Jace and I really enjoy going to them. The ones that we have seen this year are Pirates of the Caribbean (Hale Center Theater), Music Man (Rodger's), Tarzan (Tuacahn), Aida (Tuacahn), Thriller (Kingsbury Hall), Wicked (Gershwin in NY), and In the Heights (Richard Rodgers Theatre, NY). Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!!

Our St. George weekend getaway!

So last weekend, Jace and I both had Saturday AND Sunday off (never happens)! So we planned a little get away trip down to St. George. We left on Friday night, watched TV for a bit then went to bed. On Saturday, we woke up, got our free continental breakfast, went to Zion's National Park which was beautiful, watched the BYU game, went to Pizza Factory for dinner, then went to an amazing play, Aida at the Tuacahn Amphitheater! Oh, when we got back to our hotel, we totally snuck into the Jacuzzi and pool for a while. Then on Sunday, we stopped at the St. George temple, then the Historic Cove Fort on the way home! Everyone has to go there at least once! It was such a blast of a weekend and so, so nice to get away!

I just want to say how much I love my husband, Jace. Tonight, I came home, was exhausted from working all night the night before, so I layed down for a sec. Jace had worked all day long, but when I got up, the vacuuming, bathrooms, mopping, and laundry was all done (and not for the first time)! Wow, I'm one lucky girl. I love you Jace!

I've been meaning to post some pics of our future first home... I'll try to keep them updated! We are building a home in East Layton. Kinda scary, but way fun! We will hopefully be moved in by the end of October, just in time to have some trick-or-treaters!

Sun Valley is pretty much in the middle of the mountains and is gorgeous! This is pretty much my family's idea of camping.....pitiful I know, but so much fun!

After four long years of college, I finally graduated! I am now working at Lakeview Hospital on the Women's floor as an RN taking care of post-partum moms, as well as female surgical patients. After all that butt-wiping, it finally payed off; I love my job! Jace is working at AT&T now in Ogden... anyone want the new iphone? :)

Because our Anniversary is so close to Christmas, we decided to do a simple, but fun day and it ended up being a blast! We started out by going sledding and it was hilarious! My dog, Ody, came with us and thought he had died and gone to heaven. Then, we got ready and went to the Garden Restaurant at the Joseph Smith building for dinner and went to the lights and Nativity at Temple Square after. It was a very romantic and special night. Once we got home, we ended the night by playing our new favorite game, Ticket to Ride, with my family.

So we've been here in Alabama since the beginning of July and are just getting ready to come home this weekend! We have really enjoyed our time being here, but we're looking forward to coming home and seeing our family and friends. It rains a lot here in Alabama, but that is why it's so beautiful and green! Here's Jace in his Alabama T-shirt and reading his book, the Alchemist. The people out here are FANATICAL about their two rival schools: University of Alabama and Auburn University. It's even worse than BYU and Utah! There are seriously cars everywhere just decked out in Alabama colors and any of the talk shows you listen to on the radio are just men going off about each of the schools and what they love or hate about them! It's wild!

Night at the APARTMENT Theater!

After a long day at work, the pest control team decided to watch Casino Royale at Jules and Jer's apartment complex! We ordered lots of pizza and drinks and it was a blast! Alabama has been amazing, and not what I expected at all. We moved here at the beginning of July from Hollywood, Florida, where we lived from May through June. It is very, very green and humid. Although there aren't any mountains in sight, I feel like I'm in the mountains because we're surrounded by tall pines that are standing very tall and close together. It almost has a Park City, Utah kind of feel to it. We are living in Birmingham, just off the freeway. We love our apartments and the people here are very courteous and kind, not to mention they have the "suthun" accent! This summer has definitely be one that we will look back on and cherish the memories we've had here.
